The team at local agency HARC brought me on to help them publish another one of Rainbow Railroad's Annual Reports.
Compared to last time, this report was going to be much more extensive and published in a printed format. We embraced the brands bright colours, grouping similar colours across each section. This allowed each section to feel vibrant and alive, without having too many clashing colours on every spread.
The physical size of the report is large and tall, with most pages making use of a small skinny sidebar across the outside columns. This allowed us to make room for a lot of the data in the report, whether showcased as pull-out numbers, contextual information or informational graphs. From various bar graph styles to circular graphs, the paired down colours across each section brough these data heavy elements to life.
At 100 plus pages we carefully considered the flow of the report - there are three main section title pages in bright full colours with a duotone-like photo, followed by smaller sub-section title pages with the text on black alongside a smaller visual. The report makes use of a lot of bright, large and bold typography, while still ensuring the hierarchy is always prioritized. The document also featured stories, which span a page or two, and have their own design. They stand out with a colourful bold border alongside the text and a photo or illustration.
Working with Alicia has been nothing short of incredible. Her kindness and care for the humans along the way of the project speaks volumes about her integrity and care she brings to her relationships.
The work that she produces is not only beautiful and intuitive but she never misses a deadline and usually comes in before the deadline. That almost never happens in our world!
