40 Hour Workweek

branding

For the past 10+ years Angela Watson has been busy writing content, creating various offerings and growing her site The Cornerstone for Teachers. After starting the re-brand on her main site (view more on that here), we quickly realized her main offering 40 Hour Workweek For Teachers was going to need it’s own visual language. Since the two brands are still related and would still be interacting with each other it was important they work together seamlessly and didn’t look to foreign.

To tie them together the logo for 40 Hour Workweek For Teachers mimics the style and type of the main brand, as well as the strong type hierarchy we had developed. In order to emphasize the brands sense of trust, integrity and depth gem tones and gradients became the main colour story, with various blues (in contrast to purples in the main brand). In order to not come across too academic and shine a light on the creative side of things marbled background and patterns, as well as lively classroom photography are used as graphic elements throughout.

The design work displayed here was created while under contract with Goatsocial. My main role on this project was creating the foundation of the new brand, including but not limited to: the logo, alternates and icons, a strong colour story, various graphic elements and their application, templates for social media imagery and a strong structured type hierarchy. The rest of the team then took on these elements and built out the online course. The present state of the brand may have been modified from its original design and as such may no longer represent the original concept. Shown below is the original re-brand design.
